His boy next door good looks and chiseled physique have landed him work as a fitness model, on the stages of several physique competitions, and at the top of the list as one of the most successful personal trainers in Los Angeles.

Born and raised in the small rural town of Voluntown, CN Derek discovered one of the benefits of weightlifting in his early teens… girls dig guys with muscles! As an All-State linebacker in high school and a Collegiate Rugby All Star from the University of Connecticut he fine tuned his athletic abilities and began to develop his understand of sport specific training. While he enjoyed the attention that being an athlete afforded him, his love of fitness soon turned into a lifestyle that he would eventually blossom into a full fledged fitness career.
Girls, sports, and hobbies came and went, but weight lifting always remained a constant in my life.

Derek never lost his small town values and his love of helping others has been a lifelong passion. As a Personal Trainer Derek helps his clients achieve their fitness goals by designing challenging but obtainable workout plans and nutritional guidelines. “A lot of personal trainers just phone it in and are happy to play the role of a friend to talk to when you’re working out. I want my clients to actually push themselves and reach their goals …because it means I’m being an effective coach.”
It isn’t all about pumping iron with this guy either! Mat Pilates, Muay Thai, and TRX are just some of the disciplines Derek’s studied. In addition, he hold certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Council on Strength and Fitness and the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
When he’s not working with clients or sweating it out himself at the gym, Derek donates his time to working with disadvantaged high school kids in the Los Angeles area inspiring them to embrace sports and fitness as a positive lifestyle choice.
